On a bright and sunny afternoon, the team from Cherry On Top brought a special kind of joy to Creighton Lodge and the surrounding neighborhood by handing out ice cream to local seniors. Brooklyn Christenson and Mikayala Dyer, two friendly faces from the popular local ice cream truck, took time out of their day to make sure the community’s elders could cool off and enjoy a sweet treat.
“Today we are posted up at Creighton Lodge, the old folks’ home, giving out ice cream to the seniors,” Brooklyn shared with a smile. The initiative drew in not only residents of the lodge but also neighbors from the area, all eager for a couple of scoops to beat the heat.
The timing couldn’t have been better, the warm weather brought out more people than usual, making the ice cream event a small but heartfelt community gathering. “On cooler days, we don’t get that much business, but on warmer days, a lot of people tend to show up everywhere,” Brooklyn explained.
Among the favorites were Maple Walnut, which was so popular that the team ran out and had to call in a special shipment just to keep up with demand. Black cherry was another top choice, proving that classic flavors continue to hold a special place in the hearts of Estevan’s seniors.
This simple act of kindness is a perfect example of how small local businesses like Cherry On Top contribute to the close-knit community feel that Estevan is known for. Their generosity brought smiles, laughter, and a cool reprieve from the summer heat.
Cherry On Top invites everyone to stop by and enjoy their delicious offerings during their regular hours, Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
As Brooklyn said with a laugh, “Come to Cherry On Top. We’re here to make your day a little sweeter.”
