Estevan police responded to a busy day yesterday, handling two vehicle collisions, a stolen bicycle, and two linked assaults.
The first collision occurred at King Street and Spruce Drive, where a northbound pickup turning west was struck by an eastbound truck, causing it to flip onto its side. The driver was assisted from the vehicle and treated by EMS. Both trucks were extensively damaged and towed.
Shortly afterward, a southbound truck collided with an eastbound car at 4th Street and 2nd Avenue. The car was significantly damaged and towed. The truck driver was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving without due care and attention.
Police also investigated a stolen bicycle. While there were no suspects, the bike was later found abandoned by Estevan Police Service’s bike patrol and returned to its owner.
Officers responded to two assaults in the east end of town last night, including an assault with a weapon and a common assault. Both incidents are related and remain under investigation.
