The Lethbridge Police are warning the public of an ongoing phone scam involving the Lethbridge Police Association (LPA).

According to the Lethbridge Police, several people in the area reported receiving phone calls from people claiming to be from the LPA.

At that point, the caller then solicits donations in support of veterans and injured officers.

The Lethbridge Police say the phone numbers being used are "spoofed" and are not affiliated with the Lethbridge Police in any way, nor are they affiliated with the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services or the Legion.

Not only that, but the LPA, the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services, and the Legion do not solicit donations over the phone.

The Lethbridge Police says that if you receive one of these calls, simply hang up the phone, and if someone receives an unsolicited text or email with a link, do not click the link, and delete any suspicious text messages and emails.

On top of that, the LPA is reminding people to never give out personal information or send someone you don't know money, based on a phone call, email, or text message.

Anyone who has fallen prey to this scam and hasn't reported it yet is being asked to contact the police at 403-328-4444.
