The High River Legion will be celebrating a new Veteran's crosswalk this Friday, August 15.

President of local Branch #71, Linda Reed, is looking forward to being one of the first Alberta Royal Canadian Legions to receive the official Legion Command-designed crosswalk.

“We are honoured to be one of the first locations in Alberta to lay this official Legion Command design," said President Linda Reed. "This crosswalk will stand as a daily reminder of the brave men and women who have served our country.”

The new design does not have a poppy, as you're not allowed to walk or step on any version of a poppy.

The ceremony takes place this Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Legion.

There will be light refreshments served at 1:30, and there will also be a stirring performance by the Centennial Legion 285 Pipe and Drum band.

Special thanks to Bow Mark Paving and Line West Ltd. for donating all the supplies.
