From playing in Cochrane this summer at the Bow Valley Boot Stomp to stepping onto the massive Country Thunder stage, Berlyn Broadhead’s 2025 is hitting all the right notes.
The proud cowgirl and Country Music Alberta Youth Horizon Award winner grew up in Slave Lake and now calls Eckville home.
“I draw every inspiration from what I did growing up, quadding, camping, fishing, all that fun small-town stuff.”
Her sound blends classic country storytelling with a modern edge. She has performed at Big Valley Jamboree, CFR, PBR Canada and opened for artists like Joe Nichols, Gord Bamford and Kim Mitchell.
Berlyn’s latest single, Delete You From My Phone, is a breakup anthem about the hardest part of moving on. “It’s basically about the first step, which is deleting their contact and going no contact for several days,” she says.
She admits the road to success has been a grind. “When I won that award I kind of broke down crying because I thought, wow, all this work is actually paying off.”
For Country Thunder, preparation means more than just rehearsals. “I’m rehearsing today in Calgary, then I’m going to do a spa day before rehearsal. And picking outfits, that’s a big fun one.”
She promises fans an authentic performance. “I feel like I’m very down to earth. I’m not faking something or a picture of me. It’s just me.”
Cochranites heading to Country Thunder this weekend can catch Berlyn on stage on Saturday from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
