This Friday we are excited to bring back our Taste of the Summer Charity BBQ, running from 11:30am - 1pm in front of the Innovation Federal Credit Union where we'll be selling burgers, a drink and a bag of chips for $10, with 100% of the proceeds going towards our charity of choice; Southwest Crisis Services.
In speaking with Lynda Richards, Shelter Manager from SW Crisis Services, the services the provide are plentiful; "The safe shelter residents are women and children impacted by relationships of violence. We offer a 24/7 crisis line at 1-800-567-3334. We have an outreach program, provide sexual assault services and also have a children's and men's program."
Aside from the services provided, and the outreach program, Lynda mentions the community support and work they do is just as extensive. "We do a lot in the community with other services as well, because it really does take an entire community to get from point A to Z. We work with family services, the Family Resource Center, MCC Furniture and Clothing Store, even the schools, because sometimes we have to go to meetings, sometimes we go to the doctor with the clients. We're really busy!"
Golden West is proud to do the Taste of the Summer Charity BBQs this summer, and encourage anyone to come out and take part in tomorrows lunch BBQ as well, with all proceeds going to Southwest Crisis Services.
If you or someone you know is in a situation they are looking for help with, please don't hesitate to contact Southwest Crisis Services at 1-800-567-3334.
