Cochrane drivers will see significant changes at the Highway 1A and Highway 22 interchange starting this weekend.
The Town of Cochrane shared a rundown of changes coming over the next few weeks including eastbound and westbound Highway 1A will open on permanent lanes beneath the new Highway 22 bridge. Two new permanent roundabouts will also be in use.
Northbound Highway 22 traffic to both directions of 1A will use a new loop ramp and the east roundabout. Southbound Highway 22 traffic will use a new exit ramp and the west roundabout.
Westbound 1A traffic heading south on Highway 22 will follow a new west loop ramp. Eastbound 1A to northbound Highway 22 will continue using the west loop ramp and temporary roundabout.
Some sections of the temporary roundabout will be closed, including the east leg and north end.

Late August to early September, a new movement from Highway 1A to northbound Highway 22 will open at the east roundabout. Highway 22 will also be realigned in both directions through the interchange.
The temporary detour roundabout, first opened in 2023, will be fully closed once construction is complete.
All dates are approximate and may shift depending on weather and construction progress. Drivers are reminded to follow signage and adjust for new routing.
The final phase of the interchange work is expected to be completed in late 2025.
