The Town of Okotoks is hosting a movie night to celebrate the Alberta Day weekend.
On September 1, 1905, Alberta became a province, and in recognition of this anniversary, the Provincial government designated the day as Alberta Day.
To help celebrate the day, the Town of Okotoks is hosting a Movies in the Park event on Friday, August 29, in Ethel Tucker Park.
As part of the event, they will be showing a double feature under the stars, showing family friendly movies for free.
The night will kick off at 6:30 p.m., when the town will show Shanghai Noon, which was filmed in Alberta, with parts filmed at the nearby CL Ranch.
Then, once that movie is done and the sun sets, they will be showing the 1992 classic, A League of Their Own.
While the movies are free to watch, people are being asked to bring their own blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks for the family-friendly night out.
