Cochrane resident Linda Kozek self-scanned her EXTRA ticket and, to her delight, it came up a winner — though she didn’t realize just how big the prize was at first.
“I checked it on the self scanner and thought it was $25,000, which I was pretty excited about,” she said with a laugh. “I took it to the cash register to double-check and realized I’d actually won $250,000.”
The Cochrane woman says she was in shock. “I didn’t know what to do — I just couldn’t believe it.”
Now that the news has set in, she has plans for the money
"I’m going to invest this money for retirement,” she said. “I also want to take my mom on a trip—we’re thinking a train across Canada!”
Kozek bought the winning LOTTO MAX and EXTRA ticket at the Save-On-Foods on Bow Street in Cochrane. She matched the July 1 EXTRA number: 723950.
