This weekend, Oungre Memorial Regional Park (OMRP) roughly 35 minutes south of Weyburn on Highway 35 will be full of activity as their hosting their annual Halloween in the Park, their Halloween-themed four-person Adult Golf Tournament, and a two-person Youth Golf Tournament.

The Halloween in the Park will take place later on tonight running from 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm. Trick or treaters will dress up in their favourite costumes and head around the park, trying to fill up their bucket or even a pillowcase.

Then, on Saturday, the four-person adult golf tournament will tee off at 2 pm. Prizes on the line for best costume as well as first, second, and third place, and prizes for men’s and women’s longest drive, longest putt, and closest to the pin. The Saturday Night will conclude with a steak supper.

Sunday will wrap up the weekend with a two-person youth golf tournament. There's a burger lunch starting at 11:30 pm and then ages 8 to 16 will tee off at 1 P.M. Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place finishers as well as longest drive, longest putt, and closest to the pin for both boys and girls.

Registration for both tournaments are closed, but it’ll be a great weekend to enjoy some great food and watch some golf. Erica Pederson, chairman of the OMRP, says they’ve been busy fundraising this year upgrading the park including their pool.

“We are definitely in the need for a new pool liner coming up in the next couple of years, so I feel like this year, and for the next couple of years, all of our fundraising events or proceeds will be put back into the pool area. We did a whole bunch of renovations into the park this year. We did all new change rooms, they got totally gutted, new benches, new roof, new flooring. Yeah, just throughout the whole pool area. Got a whole kind of an overhaul. The park costs money to maintain, and it's just nice that we can have these events to help with the proceeds.”
