Sylvan Lake residents are invited to come together for a weekend of community spirit, fun, and a little spring cleaning this weekend. (August 16/17)
Neighbour Day – Sunday, August 17
Mayor Megan Hanson has officially proclaimed this Sunday (August 17) as "Neighbour Day" in Sylvan Lake.
The celebration will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Health and Wellness Healing Hub, offering an afternoon of family-friendly activities and connection.
Guests can look forward to live music, yard games, balloon animals by the Twisted Lady, and rock painting for the community rock snake.
Residents are encouraged to bring friends, family, and, of course, their neighbours.
Kick it to the Curb – Saturday and Sunday, August 16 & 17
Adding to the weekend’s spirit of sharing, Sylvan Lake’s "Kick it to the Curb" event will all weekend.
This community reuse program helps find new homes for unwanted but usable household items, reducing landfill waste in the process.
How it works:
-
Place safe, usable items at the curb on Saturday (August 16) with a “Free” sign.
-
Leave items out until the end of the day Sunday (August 17).
-
Any remaining items can be taken to the "Drop N’ Swap" tent at the Waste Transfer Site at no charge.
Items such as kitchenware, electronics, unwanted gifts, and furniture are welcome.
However, items like child safety equipment, toys, bedding, or unsafe goods will not be accepted.
With two events aimed at fostering community and sustainability, Sylvan Lake residents have plenty of reasons to connect, share, and celebrate together.
