From Friday, August 1, 2025, to Saturday, November 15, 2025crop residue burning is not authorized—except by permit—in the following municipalities:

  • Rosser
  • Headingley
  • St. François Xavier
  • Cartier
  • Macdonald
  • Ritchot
  • Taché
  • Springfield
  • East St. Paul
  • West St. Paul

Additionally, from Friday, August 15 to Sunday, August 17, 2025crop residue burning is not authorized in any municipality or zone across Manitoba due to poor air quality caused by forest fire smoke.

Burning in designated “Burning Permit Areas” requires a permit issued by Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources.
For burning within the City of Winnipeg, a permit from the City is required.
Please consult your local RM office for any additional restrictions.

Important Reminders

  • Nighttime burning of crop residues is banned year-round.
  • Safe burning practices must be followed, including:
    • Adequate fire-guarding
    • Proper supervision
  • Smoke must not obscure public roadways or affect neighboring residents.
