Team Saskatchewan's Men's Baseball teams hope for a Gold Medal were dashed today in St. John's Newfoundland at the Canada Summer Games as Quebec defeated Saskatchewan 9-4. 

Pryor Dyck of Watrous got the start. He lasted 2 innings, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits.  

Cade Britz of Muenster had an RBI in the loss.  

Quebec opened with a 2-0 advantage in the first inning, but Saskatchewan answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning thanks to a home run from Rhett Anderson. 

But Quebec bounced back in the second inning with three more runs in the second. They would add three more in the fourth and finished off their scoring in the fifth with a run. 

Today was the third time Saskatchewan faced Quebec at the Canada Summer Games, with Saskatchewan winning the first two contests. 

Saskatchewan still has a chance to earn a medal as they will play in the bronze medal game on Saturday. 

 

Wynyard’s Daniel Laverty is tied for fourth place in Single Handed ILCA Sailing after seven races in St. John’s. He finished in fourth place in five of the races, along with a third-place finish and fifth-place finish.  

There are three more races scheduled for the event that has experienced weather trouble throughout the week due to the wildfires.  

 

Team Saskatchewan finished in 7th place in Women’s Box Lacrosse after they defeated New Brunswick 4-0 today. 

Wakaw’s Marti Burechailo is a member of Team Saskatchewan. She had a goal in the win today.
