Southeast College is looking ahead to a busy and exciting fall season, with new programs, community events, and unique learning opportunities for the region.

Executive Director of Innovation and Applied Research, Tania Andrist, says the college continues to grow its footprint in the energy and innovation space. Programs such as Power Engineering are already full with waitlists, while spots remain open in Industrial Mechanics and the Electrician program.

“We’ve been really trying to get into that energy and innovation space,” said Andrist. “If you’re still wondering what to do this fall, check out our website to see if there’s something that sparks your interest.”

One of the most talked-about additions is the upcoming Nuclear Engineering course, offered in partnership with the University of Regina. While the in-person class will be held in Regina, students can also take it online. The Monday evening course runs for a semester and is designed for those with a science background, or anyone eager to explore careers in the nuclear field as Saskatchewan moves toward small modular reactors.

The college is also preparing for its annual Swing for Scholarships golf tournament, set for September 5 in Weyburn. A few golfer spots remain, along with opportunities for sponsors to get involved. This year’s event will carry a 1970s theme in celebration of Southeast College’s 50th anniversary.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun, retro outfits, 70s music, and all in support of student scholarships,” Andrist added.
