Members of the community gathered at Abundant Life Baptist Church,1396 Plessis Road, for their Family Funday on Saturday afternoon.
It was a welcoming and warm time of games, food, crafts and bouncy castles. It was free and open to all to participate in and enjoy.
"It's a fun day for family, we have food, some games, and bouncy castles," shared Brad Quiring, the Lead Pastor of Abundant Life Baptist Church.
The event was hosted to reach members of the community.
"The whole idea is anyone can come here and get a chance to meet us, be with one another, and have a really good time," said Quiring.
Church leaders further shared the motivation of having the event open to the public.
"When Jesus was preaching, He preached in the streets, He preached in a field, He preached in somebody's living room. We kind of wanted to bring the living room to our community," said Rod Neufeld, the Community Outreach Pastor of Abundant Life Baptist Church.
It was the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that the church has hosted an event of its kind.
"This has been something we used to do before Covid, and now we're getting back into it because it's important for us to be together as a community. Lord-willing, we're going to have this every year now," said Quiring.
The Funday ended on a high note, and attendees shared their highlights about the event.
"It's definitely worth it, you should go next year," shared Ire, a child attendee of the event.
