It was a massive day for the U15 Central Energy, as the host club went three for three on the day, giving them a chance in the 3 vs 4 game on Sunday, meaning they've assured themselves as a top 4 team in the country.
"The girls had an unbelievable day," coach Kevin Convery says very proudly. "They faced three must-win games, and won each of them by one run. We started with a 6-5 come from behind win over PEI. Then, we battled in an extra-inning thriller, claiming a 7-6 victory over AB2. The group carried that momentum over to a matchup with the BC champions, and shocked them with a 2-1 win."
It's not just the fact the girls are winning, but how they are handling their business that has Convery encouraged heading into Sunday. "We are really encouraged with the team's grit, and never say die attitude. We are all just so impressed with how they are handling the increasing pressure of the big stage."
Sunday will be a memorable one for the team and the community. "The 3 vs 4 playoff game is at 9:15 a.m. Sunday," Convery explains. "It'll be on Diamond 2 against a familiar foe, the Eastman Wildcats."
