With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we regret to share that Shona Cote passed away peacefully at age 64 on August 6, 2025, with family by her side.
Shona was predeceased by her grandparents, Gerald Moyse and Olive McCorrister, her parents, William (Bill) and Elizabeth Henry, and her siblings, Darryl, David, and Sandy.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ryan (Sherry Ann), Blair (Laura), and Danielle (Catherine); grandchildren, Dreydan, Keadan (Darius), Carter, Emily, Falon, Darius, and Florence. She is also survived by her father’s wife, Doreen, as well as many other family and extended family members. She had a large family tree with many leaves, and all will feel her absence.
Shona was always working, exploring different trades and leaving her mark on each individual she met along the way. From waitress to florist to caregiver, she cared deeply for all.
As a mother, Shona was fierce, protective, and endlessly proud of her children, who could do no wrong in her eyes. She travelled countless miles for hockey, ball, and anything Ryan, Blair, and Danni were involved in. The same held true for her grandchildren; the sun rose and set on them. Family was everything to her.
Shona had a spirit that was special and rare, and it drew people to her. One of a kind, she leaves behind her legacy, her true gift: her way with people. Everyone she met felt seen, heard, and special. Shona had humour, the best laugh, was kind, creative, and stubborn like no other. She loved social gatherings and anything and everything involving family and friends. She was a friend to many and a best friend to a select few. You know who you are, and she loved you.
Her presence will be missed. Rest in peace, Mom. You are forever in our hearts.
The family has already privately said their goodbyes. There will be a celebration of Shona’s life on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 3 p.m., at the High Bluff Community Hall - 10 Weir Avenue, High Bluff, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shona’s memory to Central Plains Cancer Services or Portage District Hospital Foundation.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. http://www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
