Cochrane residents will soon see changes to their waste, recycling, and organics pickup schedules. Beginning the week of September 15, the Town is rolling out updated collection routes designed to keep services efficient and reliable.

The new schedules are the result of months of data collection through a partnership between Cochrane Waste & Recycling Services and BluPlanet Recycling, the Town’s waste collection provider since late last year. BluPlanet trucks, equipped with GPS tracking and cameras, gathered information on route times and neighbourhood challenges.

“The update to collection routes is grounded in data collected through collection truck GPS tracking and cameras,” said Shawn Tooth, Director of Utilities for the Town of Cochrane. “Adjusting our zones for collection will improve collection efficiency and reliability, while ensuring we’re prepared to meet Cochrane’s future growth.”

Residents can find their updated schedule online at cochrane.ca/collection or by using the My Cochrane Collection app. The app allows users to search by address and sign up for reminders by email, phone, or notification.

“We encourage everyone to check their schedule in advance,” Tooth added. “Signing up for a reminder to roll your cart out on your new collection days could help you and your neighbour never miss a pickup day.”
