Estevan police responded to 33 calls for service over the weekend, ranging from domestic disputes and well-being checks to traffic concerns and ongoing investigations.
On August 15, officers mediated a domestic disturbance involving family members, connecting those involved with additional services through PACT and Social Services.
That same day, a well-being check was conducted for two youths who had left their residence without permission and were being verbally disciplined by a family member. Police determined there were no immediate concerns.
A criminal harassment complaint was also received and is under investigation.
In a separate call, officers attended a local trailer court where individuals were found staying in a tent on private property without permission; they were contacted and sent on their way.
Police also investigated a report of an erratic driver on 4th Street and cautioned the individual after locating the vehicle parked at a nearby business.
On August 16, a domestic disturbance in central Estevan resulted in an individual sustaining a hand injury after it was caught in a door. The injured person received medical attention, and the incident remains under investigation
Officers also responded to an attempted break and enter at a residence, where a stool had been moved beneath a window, though no signs of forced entry or other evidence were found. That day, police mediated another domestic dispute involving two families living in the same residence.
Investigations continued into a hit-and-run collision in a north-end business parking lot, while a reported online scam involving a failed transaction remains under review. Additionally, a male was arrested for breaching court-ordered conditions by contacting a family member he was prohibited from contacting and was remanded to appear at Estevan Provincial Court.
Police also responded to a report of a suicidal male who had ingested toxic chemicals; he was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for medical care.
On August 17, officers investigated a report of a break and enter to a vehicle in the east-central part of the city. Nothing was removed from the vehicle, though the fuel door had been opened, suggesting a possible attempt to siphon fuel.
Police also addressed a noise complaint related to a barking dog and ensured the owner arranged for the issue to be managed.
Reports of unsecured doors at a former Estevan motel were referred to the City Bylaw officer due to structural hazards.
A stolen bicycle was reported; the suspect has been identified, and the bike recovered, with an arrest pending.
Police also responded to a near-collision and verbal altercation between two drivers in a business parking lot and cautioned the responsible party.
Finally, officers attended two alarms at a downtown bank, both triggered inadvertently by cleaning staff experiencing difficulties with the alarm system.
