Strong winds on Saturday morning didn't deter a dedicated group of volunteers from making Weyburn a little greener.

Roughly 20 people took part in the annual Tatagwa Tree Day on August 16th, successfully planting 140 new trees along the Signal Hill walking trail. The team worked through the challenging conditions to plant the saplings along the trail, which is located just off New City Garden Road.

This year's planting will add to the local biodiversity with a variety of species, including spruce, poplar, silver buffalo berry, and Manitoba maple.

The annual community event, which enhances local parks and trails, is made possible through funding from Saskatchewan Lotteries and the Association of Saskatchewan Urban Parks and Conservation Agencies.
