Enjoy a brief taste of the summer heat this week.
After a beautiful Sunday, the heat is expected to stick around on Monday and will peak on Tuesday with the temperature around 30° and with the humidex it will feel a few degrees warmer.
Meteorologist for Environment and Climate Change Canada Eric Dykes says that over the next couple of days, the weather will be warmer than usual for this time of year.
“Normal highs are around 23 degrees. We’re looking for highs of 27° today and maybe even 30° for tomorrow, so the heat is on for the beginning of the work week.”
Following a couple days of warmth, things will change as Dykes explains.
“Then an area of low pressure will come through and basically get rid of the upper ridge that brought all the heat.”
Temperatures will get back to seasonal averages later this week.
While the Humboldt area avoided any kind of severe weather on Sunday night, some other areas from the province experienced some activity in the sky.
Dykes said there was a possible tornado that occurred near Colfax, as a skinny rope-like cloud was spotted. Currently they’re investigating to get confirmation that there was a tornado.
There was also a funnel cloud located near Tribune last night at around 6:00 pm.
With a wet start to the month, Dyke noted the warm weather should help local farmers who getting ready to start harvest.
"Probably the last little bit of growth they'll get from this moisture and now this heat that's coming and then hopefully not too much in the way of wet weather thereafter."
Streetfest is happening this weekend in Humboldt. Early indications are Saturday will be a nice day to be outside, with some sunshine.
Currently there are some showers in the forecast for Friday, but Dykes says there’s a chance the sky could clear before Friday, allowing a perfect weekend for a day full of outdoor activity in downtown Humboldt.
