The Estevan Motor Speedway hosted some make-up races Friday night, allowing racers to earn some more points before the championship night. Having previously been scheduled for last Saturday, but being rained out, the races covered all classes.

President of the Estevan Motor Speedway, Brad Pierson, talked about the night and how the track fared.

"I thought we had a really great show. I thought we probably had our best track of this season so far, but we had some great racing. The program went extremely quickly. The racing was, I feel, exciting throughout all divisions. Unfortunately, we had a bad wreck at the end of our last feature of the night. But other than that, it was a really good night."

With just one more night left for those racers to gather points and secure the championship, the competition's been heating up, according to Pierson.

"The competition's been great through all the different divisions. We haven't had a lot of repeat winners all year in any specific division. So I feel the competition's been very good throughout all those classes. We're used to seeing different winners most nights. Definitely some repeat winners, too, throughout the season. But overall, just a lot of great competition in between the five different classes that's been very competitive."

The Championship night is set for August 22nd, and while it's a somewhat ordinary night for the lineup, Pierson says the competition is something else entirely.

"It's a pretty basic night, but the competition level goes way up for that night, just as people are looking to hold on to their championships. So it's always a big night. We always get a big crowd for championship night, and people just love to see these championships crowned and see the close shootouts for all these divisions. So it'll be a good night."

The Speedway will have one more race this season following the championship night, as they have the Enduro Races planned for Saturday, September 13th.
