RCMP say man pointed imitation firearm at motorists; charges laid

A 33-year-old male has been arrested after walking around pointing a firearm at motorists.

At 11:20 a.m. on August 15, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report that a male was walking around Dakota Tipi First Nation with a firearm and pointing it at motorists.

Officers immediately responded and began patrolling the community. A description of the male suspect was located shortly after and arrested without incident.

A 33-year-old from Dakota Tipi First Nation, has been remanded in custody on the following charges: Pointing a firearm, Using imitation firearm in the commission of an offence and Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose.

The investigation continues.
