The Estevan Bruins’ third annual Glow Golf Tournament lit up Hidden Valley Golf & RV Resort this past weekend, drawing a sold-out field and plenty of community spirit.
With more than 30 teams participating, the tournament showcased local business teams and community members enjoying a day of golf, camaraderie, and friendly competition. The event featured a unique twist: the front nine holes were played during the day, while the back nine took place after sunset, with fairways and golf carts lit up in creative glow-in-the-dark decorations.
“It was unbelievable to see. Last year, only a handful of people decorated their carts, but this year everyone went all out,” said Marty Martinson, Play-by-Play and Marketing Director for the Estevan Bruins. “Whether it was hanging lights, reflective materials, or other decorations, the creativity and energy were incredible.”
The glowing procession of carts made for a spectacular sight. “We had the fairways lit up, the tee boxes lit up, and then all the carts rolling out with their decorations; it was awesome,” Martinson said.
Along with the golf, participants were treated to a meal provided by Beatz Eatz and Tower Café. “The pulled pork, the salads, everything like that got a lot of praise. People were loving it,” he added.
He credited local businesses and sponsors for making the event a success. “You talk about the prizes, that is only possible if we have those awesome donations from local businesses. It is a huge part of why this event works.”
The timing also allowed fans to connect with the team ahead of the season. “It was right between our two weeks of hockey school, so we had all the guys in town. It was a chance for people to meet some of the new faces, reconnect with the returning ones, and visit with the coaching staff and board.”
Even the weather cooperated perfectly. “We could not ask for better. It was blue skies, a beautiful sunset, and then even at night, just a little wind. It was not too hot either, it was really, really a great time.”
With its rapid growth and enthusiastic community participation, the Bruins’ Glow Golf Tournament is glowing brighter each year and is well on its way to becoming a signature summer tradition.
