The Calgary Police Service (CPS) is investigating a single-vehicle collision that left a driver with life-threatening injuries after he was ejected from his car over the weekend.
The crash happened around 1:25 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17. A man in his 50s was driving a 2010 Cobra southbound on Deerfoot Trail when the vehicle drifted onto the right shoulder while approaching the Seton Boulevard S.E. overpass.
The car struck a construction sign, rotated, and hit a cable fence before continuing into the median. The driver was ejected, and the vehicle then collided with a concrete wall before coming to a stop.
The driver was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.
A passenger, a man in his 30s, was also transported to hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the crash, and do not suspect impairment.
Any witnesses to the collision are asked to call CPS at (403) 266-1234.
