It's week two of the Canada Summer Games and Team Sask is back in action this morning! Men's softball opens at 11 against New Brunswick, with a match-up against Manitoba to follow this afternoon.
Women's baseball gets underway this morning; they face Team Manitoba.
And the Sask men's volleyball team will defend their 2022 Canada Summer Games gold medal when they take on host Newfoundland at 10:30.
Team Sask opens week two with 1 gold and three bronze medals.
Day 10 at a glance:
GOLF
- Three events this week at Bally Haly Golf s, and team mix. Round one begins on Tuesday morning.
- Tee times for round one on Tuesday are as follows: Ethan Hunter of Saskatoon 4:40am SK/ 8:10am local, Ryan Mosher of Saskatoon 4:50am SK/8:20am local, Tayla Perry 5:40am SK/ 9:10am local, Grace Odnokon 5:50am SK/9:20am local.
SOFTBALL (M)
- Tuesday is opening day of competition for the men’s softball team. They play at Caribou Memorial Softball Complex against New Brunswick at 7:30am SK/11am local.
- It will be a quick turnaround as the team will play Manitoba in a second game on day one beginning at 12pm SK/3:30pm local.
BASEBALL (F)
- Women’s baseball is making its debut at the Canada Games in St. John’s. Saskatchewan opens their Games on Tuesday against Manitoba at St. Pat’s Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 8:30am SK/12pm local.
- They will switch venues for their second game of the day moving to Team Gushue Sports Complex to take on PEI at 12:30am SK/4pm local
ATHLETICS (M)(W)
- Fortis Canada Games Complex will play host to athletics in week two where Team Sask is hoping to bring home multiple medals. Watch for standouts Hannah Gates, Brendan Cote-Williamson, Jonathan Podbielski, Hailee Woodhouse, Naysa Woods, and Shelaine Pritchard.
BOX LACROSSE (M)
- Saskatchewan is in pool B and will open play on Tuesday against PEI. Just one game on Tuesday before a pair on Wednesday.
- The game is scheduled to be held at Paradise Double Ice Complex at 10:30am SK/2pm local.
VOLLEYBALL (M)(W)
- Saskatchewan’s men’s team will begin defence of their 2022 Canada Summer Games gold medal when they open play on Tuesday. Their first match is against the hosts from NL at 10:30am SK/2pm local.
- BC and Quebec are also in pool A.
- The women will open play a little later on against Quebec. The match is scheduled for 1pm SK/4:30pm local.
- Manitoba and New Brunswick are also in pool A.
SOCCER (F)
- Team Sask will open play on the pitch against Alberta under the lights. Their match is scheduled for 4pm SK/7:30pm local. Regina star player Neko Michell is one to watch.
ARTISTIC SWIMMING (F)
- After a six-year absence from the Canada Games, Artistic Swimming will make its return – now as a summer sport. Artistic Swimming was last contested at the 2019 Canada Winter Games, where 2024 Olympian Sydney Carroll represented Saskatchewan (her Paris teammate Kenzie Priddell also competed for Team Sask at the 2015 Canada Winter Games).
DIVING
- Saskatchewan’s diving contingent will be competing throughout the week at the Aquarena. Canadian record-holders Kash Tarasoff and Lila Stewart will look to follow in the footsteps of Team Sask alumni and 2024 Olympians Rylan Wiens and Margo Erlam.
WRESTLING
- Saskatchewan’s wrestlers will begin competition on Wednesday, August 20th.
