An officer-involved shooting that occurred in a southwest community of Calgary on Monday afternoon is under investigation.
On Monday (Aug. 18), at approximately 12:55 p.m., the Calgary Police Service responded to a 911 hang-up call in the Yorkville community.
The call was believed to be connected to a domestic incident involving a weapon inside a residence.
Before police arrived, a man fled but was located by officers a short distance from the residence where a confrontation occurred.
Multiple officers used use-of-force tools, including one officer discharging their service firearm.
The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
One CPS officer was assessed by EMS at the scene, and no physical injuries were reported.
No members of the public were injured.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is now investigating the incident.
