Tails To Tell Animal Rescue in Crossfield has seen around 60 cats from Airdrie make their way to the shelter.

Ever since Alberta Pound and Rescue, Airdrie location (APARC), closed back in April, Tails To Tell has been the location where all of the lost or found cats in Airdrie would go.

Claire Prevost, the office manager of Tails To Tell, explained that out of the 60 cats, 16 were kittens under four months old.

"14 of the 60 were returned to owners, which is always our goal, while the rest have just been absorbed into the shelter. Some have been adopted while others have not."

She explained that some cats are still too young or shy, but eventually all will be up for adoption. When asked if this has added a large amount of work to the shelter's plate, Prevost shared that it hasn't been that bad.

"The last couple of years, we've taken in between 400-500 cats a year. So to be honest, it hasn't been tough on us at all, but it has kept us busy."

When asked how long the shelter plans on taking in Airdrie kittens, it could be a while yet.

"I think we're going to be doing it till the end of the year, if not till April. I'm not too certain how long this will last."

Prevost has asked for volunteers from Airdrie to help care for the cats, noting that any support would be greatly appreciated, as there is always a need for more volunteers.
