Swift Current's Carter Tuplin and Rowan Reimer have qualified for the 400-metre hurdles finals at the Canada Summer Games after impressive performances on Wednesday afternoon in St. John's, Newfoundland.
Tuplin easily won the second heat in the men's 400-metre hurdles with a time of 55.93 seconds. He finished with the sixth fastest time across 17 participants to book his ticket into Friday's final at 7:30 p.m. local time.
He'll be joined by Reimer, who finished third in heat three with a time of 55.94 seconds. His time was the seventh fastest overall.
Volleyball
Lucky Lake's Kash Meyers and Team Saskatchewan men's volleyball team upend host Newfoundland and Labrador in three sets on Tuesday, 25-22, 25-13, and 25-21.
Meyers started all three sets for Team Saskatchewan, as they begin the tournament at 1-0 in hopes of repeating as Canada Games champions following their 2022 victory.
They'll face 0-1 British Columbia on Wednesday morning.
Soccer
Team Saskatchewan's women's soccer team, featuring Swift Current's Navy Louma, began the tournament with a loss to rival Alberta 5-1.
Louma, playing as a forward, was one of the lone players from Saskatchewan to play the full match.
Lacrosse
Swift Current's Kai Foster and Steve Michaluk had a front row seat to Team Saskatchewan men's lacrosse team and its dominant opening game.
Saskatchewan beat P.E.I 18-1 on Tuesday to begin pool play at 1-0.
Foster suited up as the backup goalie, and Michaluk is a coach.
Saskatchewan will now face 1-0 Manitoba on Wednesday.
