Estevan Diversified Services welcomed the community this weekend for its annual garage sale and BBQ, a popular fundraising event that has become a local tradition. Now in its third year, the event provides an opportunity for community members to support local programming while enjoying a day of shopping, food, and fellowship.

Roberta Derosier, program coordinator at Estevan Diversified, said the event is entirely fueled by community generosity. “Everything that is on our tables has been donated by people in the community,” she said. “It’s absolutely phenomenal to see how much they support us. The funds we raise here help provide programming for our clients throughout the entire year.”

The garage sale offered an impressive assortment of items, from furniture and housewares to clothing and baby items. While most clothing was being given away for free, brand-new baby clothes were available for purchase. “It really is a little bit of everything,” said Derosier. “There’s something for everyone who comes out to support us.”

Adding to the festive atmosphere, Kingston Midstream provided a BBQ and a team of volunteers who helped serve burgers and hot dogs to visitors. Derosier highlighted the importance of volunteer support. “It’s wonderful to have people come out to help. And our clients love to be involved too, it’s a chance for them to give back, which is just as rewarding as receiving support,” she said.

The event started early in the morning, with volunteers and clients arriving at 7 a.m. to help set up. Throughout the day, community members browsed the tables, picked up treasures, and enjoyed a meal together, demonstrating the strong spirit of collaboration that has become a hallmark of Estevan Diversified events.

Derosier expressed gratitude to the community for both donations and participation. “We couldn’t do this without the incredible support we get from the people in Estevan. It really shows how much this community cares,” she said.

The garage sale continues tomorrow, giving anyone who missed today’s event a chance to contribute, shop, and enjoy a BBQ while supporting local programming.
