Numerous items were stolen from the garage of a local residence last week. The Weyburn Police Service are investigating a break and enter in the north end of the city that resulted in the theft of items from both the garage and a vehicle parked inside.
Deputy Chief Shane St. John says the homeowner made the report after noticing missing items and damage to the vehicle.
“Some things were taken out of the garage of a residence, and the homeowner then noticed that his vehicle, someone had used a crowbar to break into his vehicle and stole items out of there as well. Numerous items were stolen.”
The investigation into the matter is ongoing. St. John says neighbourhood checks were done, but no cameras were set up in the area and there are currently no suspects identified.
Anyone who witnesses a crime taking place is advised to call the police, and gain as much descriptive information as possible.
“I don't recommend confronting them. You never know if they may have a weapon or what their mental health is like. Clearly, they're in a state that they want to do the crime and they want to get away with it, so there could be violence involved.”
“Try to get a really good descriptor of them. If you see them leave in a vehicle, try to get a plate number or descriptors.”
