The following is the RCMP report to August 18, 2025. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 47 traffic violations

- 21 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 19 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 11 crimes against property

- 3 other criminal code

- 3 crimes against person

- 6 traffic accidents

 

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks. RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks. You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check.

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

 

August 1, 2025

Police responded to an abandoned 911 call at Manhattan beach. Police were able to determine it came from a local payphone that no one had used recently. The matter was concluded.

Police received a report of a suspicious person in Killarney. Police were able to locate the person in question, and the matter was concluded without issue.

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in Baldur.

Police received a report of a theft of vehicle in Boissevain. Police followed up with the complainant however the situation was deemed unfounded.

Police received a report of trespassing in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. The complainant was reporting for information purposes only.

 

August 2, 2025

Police responded to a 911 call for a vehicle collision in the RM of Prairie Lakes. One male was transported to the hospital and multiple other passengers were treated for minor injuries.

Police received a report of mischief in Cartwright. Police attempted to follow up with the complainant however were not able to get a hold of them. There was insufficient evidence to proceed at this time.

 

August 3, 2025

Police responded to a call for a break and enter in Killarney. Police followed up with the complainant and patrolled the area however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

August 4, 2025

Police responded to a call for a vehicle collision in Killarney. There were no injuries and police departed.

Police received a report of theft in Boissevain. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

August 5, 2025

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. Police patrolled the area however the vehicle was gone on arrival.

While patrolling police conducted a traffic stop in Killarney. A roadside screening device was issued which resulted in a warning. An immediate roadside suspension was given to the driver prohibiting driving for 3 days and the vehicle was towed.

 

August 6, 2025

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the RM of Brenda-Waskada. Police attended and patrolled the area however the vehicle was gone on arrival.

 

August 7, 2025

Police responded to a call for a possible impaired driver in Killarney. Police were able to locate the vehicle and driver. A traffic stop was conducted, and a roadside screening device was administered resulting in a pass. The driver was issued a ticket for driving while suspended and the vehicle was towed.

Police received a report of fraud in Cartwright. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a call for an alarm in Boissevain. The key holder contacted police and determined they were not needed. The matter was concluded.

 

August 8, 2025

Police responded to a call for disturbing the peace in Waskada. While responding police received an update from the complainant stating the people had left and police were no longer required.

Police responded to a 911 call under the fire prevention act in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. There were no injuries.

Police responded to a call for a dangerous driver in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. Police bolo'd the neighboring detachment area who were able to locate the vehicle and issue a roadside screening device which resulted in a fail. An immediate roadside suspension was given to the driver and the vehicle was towed.

 

August 9, 2025

Police responded to a call for a possible impaired driver in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. Police were able to locate the vehicle and driver and conducted a traffic stop. A roadside screening device was issued which resulted in a fail. A second roadside screening device was declined. An immediate roadside suspension was given to the driver prohibiting driving for 90 days and the vehicle was towed.

 

August 10, 2025

Police responded to a call to keep the peace in Belmont. All parties were calm, and police were able to depart without issue.

 

August 11, 2025

Police received a report of disturbing the peace in Waskada. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of theft in Killarney. The complainant called back and updated police that their items had been located. The matter was unfounded.

 

August 12, 2025

Police responded to a call for a missing person in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. While police were attempting to locate the person, the complainant called back to inform them the person had returned home and was safe. The matter was concluded.

Police received a report of mischief in Waskada. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of identity fraud. The complainant reported someone had accessed and was using one of their financial accounts and had uploaded a copy of a passport with their information but not their photo. The matter is under investigation.

 

August 13, 2025

Police responded to a call under the fire prevention act in Killarney. There were no injuries and the fire was deemed not suspicious, so police departed.

 

August 14, 2025

Police received a report for an animal call in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. Police were able to assist and get the animal returned to its owner.

Police received a report of an assault in Waskada. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to another animal call in Belmont. Police spoke with both parties involved however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a 911 call for a vehicle collision in the RM of Prairie Lakes. There were no injuries and police departed after speaking with the driver.

 

August 15, 2025

Police received a report of a found bike in Killarney.

Police responded to a call for a vehicle collision in Waskada. A male was transported to the hospital.

Police received a report of uttering threats in Hartney. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a call for an assault in Waskada. Police attended and spoke with all parties involved. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a call for a dangerous driver in Deloraine. Members patrolled the area however the vehicle was gone on arrival.

 

August 16, 2025

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle at Balmy Beach. Police located the vehicle and contacted the owner who had already made arrangements for the vehicle to be moved.

Police received a report of mischief in Ninette. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report under the trespass act in the RM of Prairie Lakes. Police followed up with the complainant and the matter was concluded.

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in the RM of Prairie Lakes.

Police responded to a call for an assault in Killarney. Police attended and spoke to the parties involved and determined no assault had taken place. The matter was concluded.

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle at Balmy Beach. The vehicle had previously been reported, and the matter was concluded.

 

August 17, 2025

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in Baldur.

Police received a request for a wellbeing check. Police were able to confirm all parties were safe.

Police responded to a call for disturbing the peace in Killarney. Police attended and spoke to the parties involved and determined the matter was unfounded. Police provided a male with a ride to a different location to separate the parties for the night.

2 assault charges, both returned to crown for non-compliance with mediation attempts.

2 assault charges both closed with successful programming through restorative justice.

1 assault with weapon charge closed following mandated restitution and successful programming through restorative justice.

It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know. If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Canadian AntiFraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do. Canadian Antifraud Centre can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

Due to the many reports of vehicle thefts, the public is reminded to secure parked and unattended vehicles and refrain from leaving valuables in plain view.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Boissevain Detachment business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

RCMP WOULD LIKE TO REMIND THE PUBLIC TO USE THE POLICE EMERGENCY LINE FOR YOUR LOCAL OFFICE (204) 523-7255 or 911. The administration line may not be checked until the following day or possibly the Monday following a weekend. Members may be in another community or on the road.
