Winnipeg police are on the hunt to find some unique items after a church was broken into late last month.

Police say between the afternoon of July 29 and the morning of July 30, All Saints’ Anglican Church located in the 500 block of Broadway Avenue was broken into by an unknown suspect or suspects.

The thieves broke in by throwing a large rock through a stained-glass window, causing over $3,000 in damages.

They were also able to get away with a number of unique communion plates and cups. Police say all of the items are either 100 percent silver or pewter and most are inscribed with religious lettering or symbols.

The church says the items hold sentimental and religious meaning, and their recovery and return would be greatly appreciated.

The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is asking the public for assistance in identifying any suspect or suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 204-986-6219 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS or winnipegcrimestoppers.org
