Crop Residue Burning Restrictions – August 1 to November 15, 2025
From Friday, August 1 to Saturday, November 15, 2025, crop residue burning is not authorized except by permit in the following municipalities:
- Rosser
- Headingley
- St. François Xavier
- Cartier
- Macdonald
- Ritchot
- Taché
- Springfield
- East St. Paul
- West St. Paul
Special Notice for August 21, 2025:
Due to poor ventilation conditions, crop residue burning is not authorized anywhere in Manitoba on Thursday, August 21, except by permit.

- Burning in designated Burning Permit Areas requires a permit issued by Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources.
- Burning within City of Winnipeg boundaries requires a permit from the City of Winnipeg.
- Please consult your local RM office for additional restrictions.
Important Reminders
- Nighttime burning of crop residues is banned year-round.
- Safe burning practices must be followed, including:
- Adequate fire-guarding
- Proper supervision
- Ensuring smoke does not obscure public roadways or affect neighboring residents
