Cochrane’s downtown will once again be filled with chrome, classics, and car lovers when the Cochrane Classic Car Club hosts its annual Fall Colours Car Show on Sunday, September 7th.
“This show is really a celebration of car nostalgia and car enthusiasts,” said Dwight Wilson, director of promotions for the club. “Last year, we actually had to turn away about 50 cars because we couldn’t fit them into the downtown area.”
The event draws vehicles from across southern Alberta, and beyond, with models ranging from the early 1900s to the 1990s.
“We don’t put strict restrictions on the cars,” Wilson explained. “They just need to be unique, whether they’re customs, classics, or modified cars that stand out.”
The car show is free for the public, with participants paying a $20 registration fee that covers security and insurance. Registration is first-come, first-served on the morning of the event, and spaces fill quickly.

In addition to hundreds of vehicles, the day will feature prize draws, judging in several categories, including People’s Choice and Best in Show, and participation from local businesses.
“It’s a great chance for the community to come out, talk with car owners, and even spark interest in the next generation,” said Wilson.
The show typically attracts 2,000 to 3,000 visitors to downtown Cochrane, making it one of the community’s largest annual events.
Wilson adds with a laugh: “All we ask is that people put on their beanies and concentrate on the weather for us.”
