A pair of local athletes will be competing for medals today at the Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, Nfld. 

Moose Jaw’s Katie Rogers will be running in the women’s 1,500 metres medal heat on Friday. 

In the men’s special Olympics men’s 100  metre running, Assiniboia’s Bradyn Giraudier will be competing in the medal round after finishing second in his qualifying heat earlier this week. 

His brother Kyle will also be competing today in the 100 metres consolation round. 

Saskatchewan finished the men’s box lacrosse round robin undefeated to finish first in their pool. 

Team Saskatchewan blanked the host Newfoundland team 7-0 to finish off the round robin. Moose Jaw’s Kashton Smith had an assist in the game. Chase Folk of Moose Jaw is also on the team. 

Saskatchewan now heads into the quarter-finals on Friday where they will face Alberta, who went 2-2 in the round robin.
