Summer is still here, and both the Swift Current Soccer Association and the Swift Current Tennis Association have taken advantage of this with a free youth camp.

The camp ran through last week. Head Coach of the Swift Current Tennis Association, Kimberly Hartwig, says the camp was a great way for children of all ages and demographics to learn new sports.

"We did this because we wanted to remove any barriers that kids might face when they try to play sports," said Hartwig. By joining together, they get to play two sports, and hopefully make lots of new friends at the camp, and also have a lot of fun."

Funding for the camp came through the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program, as well as Pioneer Co-op. Head coach of the Swift Current Soccer Association, Mike Gurski, said the funding was very much appreciated.

"It allowed us to provide some snacks for the campers and some equipment, and like really high-quality coaching," Gurski said.

"We are very grateful for the help and support of our community partners, including the City of Swift Current, Newcomer Welcome Centre, Family Resource Centre, Pioneer Co-op, and many more," said Hartwig

Both Hartwig and Gurski say they hope camps like this one can continue in the future.
