Envision Counselling and Support Centre welcomed the community to a garage sale over the weekend, giving people the chance to browse, donate, and support the organization as it prepares to move into a new home this fall.
Executive Director Lynda Rideout said the sale not only helped clear out items, but also gave the public a look at the future of Envision.
“It’s been going pretty well. We’ve had quite a few people come through and take some of these items off our hands and donate to our agency, so that’s been wonderful,” Rideout said.
Envision plans to be settled in its new building at 68 Souris Ave. in Estevan by the end of September. “We’ve outgrown our current space. We have a lot of staff that are sharing offices,” Rideout explained. “This new building will allow everybody to have their own space. The most exciting part is that we have two meeting rooms within our own space, so we can finally just be home and do our meetings and everything here.”
“It will be nice for people to have a confidential space without going elsewhere to talk about the heavy stuff,” Rideout said.
While the building was purchased at a favourable price, necessary repairs and upgrades mean fundraising will continue in the months ahead.
“The roof needs to be done, the furnaces and air conditioners need to be replaced—things age,” Rideout noted. “We’ll also be fundraising to take care of some things we can’t do right away.”
Despite those challenges, Rideout said the community’s support at events such as the garage sale shows how much people value the work Envision does.
