The Estevan Art Gallery and Museum buzzed with creativity this weekend as locals browsed a wide variety of handmade treasures, from crochet and ceramics to 3D prints and custom goodies, at the gallery’s first-ever Artisan Show and Sale.

Museum director Tye Dandridge-Evancio said the event went exceptionally well. “This is actually the first time we’ve held an event like this here, and it feels great to see such a strong community turnout,” he said.

The show was the brainchild of Cody Lynn Hofer, the gallery’s curator and educational assistant, who recently developed a passion for crochet. She explained that the idea came from seeing other trade shows and wanting to create a space for local artists. ‘We posted online, reached out to local artists, and even had a few business cards circulate. A few people dropped out last minute, but overall, it was a great turnout,’ she said.

The gallery also had a busy summer with several kids’ summer camps, which were well attended and included classes run by local artist Bethany Dittmann.

In addition to summer camps, pottery classes were popular with participants.

Dandridge-Evancio reminds those who haven’t yet seen it that the Inside Out exhibition at Woodlawn Regional Park offers a unique way to experience art outside the traditional gallery space.
