Poor air conditions prompt province-wide burning ban for August 25

Effective Dates:
Friday, August 1 to Saturday, November 15, 2025
Crop residue burning is not authorized, except by permit, in the following municipalities:
Rosser, Headingley, St. François Xavier, Cartier, Macdonald, Ritchot, Taché, Springfield, East St. Paul, and West St. Paul.

Additional Restriction for Monday, August 25, 2025:
Due to poor ventilation conditions and low transport winds, crop residue burning is not authorized anywhere in Manitoba, except by permit.

• Burning in designated “Burning Permit Areas” requires a permit issued by Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources.
• Burning within the City of Winnipeg requires a permit from the City of Winnipeg.
• For other areas, please consult your local RM office for restrictions.

Important Reminders

• Nighttime burning of crop residues is prohibited year-round.
• Always follow safe burning practices, including proper fire-guarding and supervision.
• Smoke must not obscure public roadways or cause issues for neighboring residents.
