A RCORDING OF THE SERVICE IS AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING FROM AUGUST 29 - SEPTEMBER 20, 2025 ON THE LINK BELOW

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of   Lorraine Alice Fitch (nee Reutlinger) at the Humboldt District Health Complex at the age of 93.  She was born in the St. James / Naicam, SK District on April 6, 1932. Lorraine grew up on the family farm where she, along with her family, worked very hard homesteading land. Despite the never-ending work on the farm, she always had so much fun with her siblings which created a very strong bond between them that lasted throughout their lives.

Lorraine completed her early education at Norwegian Grove School and later moved to Calgary, AB where she became a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and worked in the Calgary General and Holy Cross Hospitals. She really loved doing this work. While in Calgary, Lorraine met and married Lee Fitch. Following their marriage, they moved back to the family farm in Quill Lake, SK in 1964 and raised three children: Barbara, Heather, and Eric.

Lorraine loved farm life and spending time in her garden. She devoted many hours each summer to freezing vegetables and canning fruit which was enjoyed throughout the winter by her family. In addition, Lorraine made the best homemade buns, Christmas puddings and sugar cookies, as well as birthday cakes which often included money which her kids loved. She also enjoyed staying active by swimming, biking, cross-country skiing, and walking many miles. She even assisted teaching figure   skating when her kids were young and learning to skate themselves.

Lorraine moved to Humboldt, SK in 1997 where she was able to be closer to her family. She resided at St. Mary’s Villa in Humboldt for the last two years due to failing health. If asked, Lorraine would say her greatest achievement would be her children. She was also blessed with three granddaughters who loved her dearly.

Lorraine is survived by her three children Barbara Germain, Heather Fitch (Trent Bobinski), and Eric (Cindy) Fitch;

Three grandchildren Emily and Ashley Bobinski and Rachel Germain;

Two brothers William Reutlinger and Ernie (Diane) Reutlinger; one sister Doris July;

and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by husband Lee; son-in-law Marvin Germain; parents John and Emma Reutlinger; siblings Betty Lou Reutlinger, John Reutlinger, Bertha Beck, Evelyn Clough, Margaret Baun, and Clarence Reutlinger; as well as numerous in laws on the Fitch side of the family.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from Westminster United Church Humboldt, officiated by Rev. Kathleen James-Cavan.  Interment followed at Quill Lake Cemetery. Memorial donations in Lorraine’s memory may be directed to St. Mary’s Vill Foundation (Building Fund) or Quill Lake Cemetery.

It takes a mother’s love to make a house a home.

A place to be remembered no matter where we roam…

It takes a mother’s patience to bring a child up right

And her courage and her cheerfulness

To make a dark day bright…

It takes a mother’s thoughtfulness

To mend the heart’s deep hurts

And her skill and her endurance to mend little socks and shirts…

It takes a mother’s wisdom to recognize our needs

And to give us reassurance by her loving words and deeds…

And that is why in all this world there could not be another

Who could fulfill God’s purpose

As completely as a mother!
