Updated:

The Brooks RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit are continuing to investigate the death of 20-year-old Fatima Ahmed.

The RCMP is continuing to work with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.

Even though the cause of death has not been determined, the RCMP says there is no indication of an ongoing risk to the public.

According to the Alberta RCMP, they are aware of several social media posts that are providing erroneous information in relation to this investigation.

The police understand the fears and anxieties these posts can generate, and they advise people to take what they see circulating on social media with skepticism, especially when there has not been an official police report or warning issued.

"We recommend that the public rely on verified information from trusted sources," the RCMP stated in a media release.
