The Rust Cage Fun Run had a great turnout on Saturday.
Starting with a breakfast at the Eagles in Swift Current, riders gathered together to commemorate their friends who had gone ahead of them into the great beyond. The Eagles served breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with over 50 meals sold.
At 10:30, kickstands went up and Steve Hamm, organizer for the last eight years of the event, directed 70 bikes on their parade through Swift Current and down Highway 4.

"We had just about 70 bikes lined up on Main Street," said Hamm. "Perfect weather, too, and we didn't have any breakdowns."
One of the aspects that Hamm enjoys organizing for the Run is the dice roll. This year, Hamm is happy to report that the winners all donated their prizes back to the Rusty Cage Fun Run Fund.
"The generosity of our participants is fantastic," said Hamm. "They all donated it back."
The winner of the 50/50 also donated their $500 back to the Fund. In total, the event raised $3,000, which will be donated back into the Swift Current community.
The Run ended up in Cadillac for noon, where they parked in the local campground, and were fed a barbecue hot dog lunch by the Cadillac Restoration Board.
"I didn't get a number from them, but they said they were sold out of their hot dogs," reported Hamm.
Finally, they ended up back at the Eagles for supper by 4 p.m.

With the success of this year's run, Hamm is happy to report he will once again be planning and organizing the Run for next year.
"August 22, 2026, at the Eagles again," said Hamm. It will be the 17th Annual Rusty Cage Fun Run."
