The Swift Current Drag Racing Association (SCDRA) took over the Swift Current Airport over the weekend for their second of three scheduled races.

After a rained-out weekend in July, drivers were excited to get their engines running once again.

Over 100 vehicles and drivers came for the two-day event from as far west as Whitla, AB, and as far east as Bagot, MB. Five local drivers took home cash prizes as well as trophies.

Cars were split up into four distinct classes. Sportsman, Junior Street, Pro, and Super-Pro. An additional Buy Back round was available for those drivers who were eliminated in the first round of competition.

Greg MacKay, vice-president of the SCDRA, says the immense help they receive allows the group to forge forward with events.

“2025 is our 20th anniversary of [the] SCDRA and without the club members and the volunteers, this just wouldn't happen,” said MacKay. “The volunteers are crucial to what makes this happen, and you just can't say enough nice things to the people.”

Members from SaskAbilities - Swift Current Branch were also on hand to run the entrance gate as well as the 50/50 raffle.

“They are just so helpful around the whole [event],” said MacKay. “It's just wonderful to be a part of the SaskAbilities family.”
