Greenvalley Equipment is inviting the community to sing loud and proud this fall with the launch of the GVE Anthem Contest, starting September 1. The contest, called “Your Voice, Our Song,” encourages local musicians, families, choirs, and anyone who loves music to put their own spin on the official Greenvalley Equipment anthem.
Marketing lead Ashley Turcotte says this is all about celebrating community while having fun with music. “We thought, why wouldn’t we create an anthem that reflects what we do and invite our community to make it their own? It’s such a great way to get people involved with us, and it’s just going to be so much fun.”
We want everyone to feel like they can take part. That means your brother and sister, your parents, your grandpa, your aunt, your school choir, your friend group—tell your grandpa about it. We want everybody.” - Marketing Lead at GVE Ashley Turcotte
How the anthem was born
The idea for an anthem came from a colleague of Turcotte’s who had seen similar projects bring communities together. Working with her friend Taylor, who wrote the lyrics, Turcotte composed the music.
“The song is about how we support farmers and our mission of helping farmers feed a hungry world,” Turcotte explains. “We really wanted to shine a spotlight on the people who make it all possible.”
No experience needed, everyone can join
The GVE Anthem Contest is open to solo performers, duos, groups, and even full choirs. Entrants don’t need to be professional musicians.
“We want everyone to feel like they can take part,” Turcotte says. “That means your brother and sister, your parents, your grandpa, your aunt, your school choir, your friend group—tell your grandpa about it. We want everybody.”
For kids 12 and under, there’s even a special Kids Mini Challenge, where submissions will be judged separately.
How to submit
Starting September 1, the full song, lyrics, and audio stems will be available on the Greenvalley Equipment website under the GVE Initiatives page.
“We would prefer video submissions, but audio is welcome too,” Turcotte explains. “Not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera, and that’s totally fine. Even just recording on your phone works great.”
For those who aren’t sure how to record or send their version, there’s also the option to perform live at Greenvalley Equipment’s annual staff banquet in November.
“We’ll be playing all the video and audio submissions, and if someone wants to perform live for us at the banquet, they’re welcome to do that too,” Turcotte says.
What’s at stake
Submissions will close November 15, with judging taking place at the annual Greenvalley Equipment Christmas banquet. Winners will be announced in December, including first, second, and third place, as well as a fan-favorite category.
The top winner will receive more than just bragging rights. “Whoever wins will be invited to record the song in a studio and produce a professional video GVE style,” Turcotte shares. “They’ll officially become the voice of Greenvalley Equipment.”
Excitement is building
Turcotte says she can’t wait to hear the creativity that comes from the community. “I am beyond excited. You have no idea. I can’t wait to connect with all these musical people and see what kind of backgrounds they come from. Do they come from a farming background? A city background? Wherever they’re from, I think it will be amazing to hear.”
And while she admits she’s new to the Pembina Valley music scene, Turcotte is eager to discover the local talent. “My knowledge comes from attending Corn and Apple and Harvest Festival, but I know there’s so much more talent out there. I can’t wait to hear what people create with this anthem.”
How to get involved
The GVE Anthem Contest kicks off September 1 with all the details, stems, and lyrics available online.
“The best way to stay updated is to follow us on social media,” Turcotte says. “We’ll be posting all the information on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. Everything launches first thing September 1.”
Submissions close November 15, so there’s plenty of time to rehearse, record, and share your voice with the community.
Your voice, our song
Greenvalley Equipment’s anthem is more than just a contest—it’s a chance to celebrate farmers, families, and music across the Pembina Valley. Whether you’re an experienced musician, a school choir, or just someone who loves to sing in the kitchen, this is your chance to make your voice heard.
The GVE Anthem Contest launches September 1 with all the resources available on the Greenvalley Equipment website. Submissions close November 15, with winners announced in December. So dust off your guitar, gather your choir, or warm up your voice and get ready to take part. And if you’re not planning to enter yourself, think of a friend, family member, or local musician who would be perfect for this opportunity and encourage them to join in.
This fall, the anthem belongs to the community—and the community’s voice will bring it to life.
