The Estevan Fire Rescue continued to answer calls across the community last week, even as the heat reached extreme levels in the city. Chief Rick Davies recounted some of the calls their crews went on over the past week.

On August 18, at around 11:30 a.m., crews were dispatched to a commercial fire alarm in the Northeast area of the city. Upon investigation, the alarm was found to be due to a cooking-related issue. Crews ventilated the property and ensured the alarm was reset.

The next call came in on August 20 around 10:35 a.m., with crews responding to a two-vehicle collision in the Northeast area of the city. Crews assisted on scene alongside EPS and EMS. Vehicle damage was reported, with injuries from the incident currently unknown.

Later that day, around 5:05 PM, crews were dispatched to a possible electrical transformer fire in the Southwest area of the city. Crews isolated the area until SaskPower could arrive to troubleshoot and repair the issue.

On August 22, a call came in around 8:45 p.m. that a commercial fire alarm had activated in the Northeast area of the city. Crews determined the alarm to be caused by a cooking-related issue. Crews ventilated the building and ensured the alarm was reset.

August 24 saw a call come in for a vehicle vs deer collision Southeast of the city around 8:40 p.m. EFR was dispatched to the scene, finding that assistance was not required as RCMP was already assisting. No injuries were reported, while the vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.

Additionally, EFR responded to four other commercial alarms throughout the week that were all deemed false alarms.
