The Weyburn Red Wings organization is hosting volunteer night tonight at Crescent Point Place. Volunteer coordinator Brenda Clarke says anyone interested in helping out this hockey season is invited to attend.

"We go through the volunteers that we have and then try and get some people to sign up for the first few games, which are coming up quickly. Our first game is September 1st with the Calibaba Cup."

Volunteers will gain information about the different game day roles, the upcoming events, and how volunteers help make the hockey season successful.

Clarke emphasizes that volunteering doesn't have to be an every-game commitment.

"I don't expect you to have to be at every game. If you can come to a game, great. If you have to miss games, that's fine. Just let me know type of thing. It's not an absolute commitment."

She says it takes 35 to 40 volunteers to make each game night happen. Roles include running ticket sales, security detail, and manning refreshments. There’s also a team of volunteers running the production side of things, including the camera, video board, lights, and scoreboard.

The meeting will be held tonight in The Nest, or Room D, at 7 p.m.
