19 local athletes are returning home from Newfoundland after participating in the 2025 Canada Summer Games.

The games wrapped up with the closing ceremony yesterday.

Saskatchewan finished 6th in total medals with 48.

Two of those medals involved southwest athletes. 

Swift Current's Carter Tuplin won bronze in the men's 400m hurdles, and Shaunavon's Mason Fauser was part of Saskatchewan's bronze medal win in baseball.

A few other athletes completed their summer games over the weekend.

ATHLETICS

After winning the bronze in 400m hurdles on Friday, Tuplin and Swift Current's Rowan Reimer helped Saskatchewan finish 6th in the men's 4x400m relay.

Their time of 3:17.08 was just over 6 seconds behind Ontario's winning time.

Reimer and Tuplin ran second and third for Saskatchewan.

LACROSSE

Swift Current's Kai Foster and the Saskatchewan box lacrosse team couldn't regroup after a heartbreaking 7-5 loss to Alberta in the quarterfinals.

They had gone 4-0 in the preliminary round before falling in the quarters.

Saskatchewan then fell 5-4 to Manitoba and 6-2 to New Brunswick in the consolation bracket. 

They finished 8th overall.

Foster went 2-2 in the tournament and allowed only 14 total goals in four games.

SOCCER

Swift Current's Navy Louma scored in penalties as Saskatchewan beat Manitoba in a 2-2 match during the consolation round of the women's soccer tournament.

Saskatchewan then cruised to a 6-0 win over Yukon to finish 9th.

Louma's squad lost both games in the preliminary round before ending the tournament with two wins in a row.

VOLLEYBALL

Lucky Lake's Kash Meyers helped Team Saskatchewan to a 6th place finish in Men's Volleyball.

He started or played in almost every set throughout the tournament.

Saskatchewan went 2-1 in the preliminary round before losing 3-0 to Manitoba in the quarterfinal.

Meyers and company then beat BC 3-1 in the consolation round before falling in four sets to New Brunswick in the 5th place match.

Portal
