The Piikani Nation RCMP attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was seen driving dangerously, leaving a gas station in Brocket on Aug. 24.

The vehicle, a white Hyundai Santa Fe, fled eastbound on Highway 3, nearly causing collisions with multiple other vehicles.

With assistance from the Calgary Police Service, the suspect vehicle was found in Calgary.

The driver was taken into custody, and the victim was confirmed safe.

Billy Crowshoe, a 38-year-old resident of Brocket, was charged with the following offences:

  • Flight from Peace Officer

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

  • Operation While Prohibited

Crowshoe was held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing and remanded for the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Macleod on Aug. 28.
