Two years after the death of her son, the mother of a 25-year-old homicide victim is publicly pleading for anyone with information to come forward.

Lyndon McIvor was last seen on August 26, 2023, after a night out with friends on Lake Manitoba First Nation. His body was found five days later, on August 31, in a wooded area within the community.

The RCMP's Major Crime Services continues to investigate McIvor’s death and says it believes people in the community hold information that could help move the case forward.

On the second anniversary of his disappearance, McIvor’s mother, Cheryl Maytwayashing, issued a heartfelt appeal for cooperation.

"It’s hard. It happened in our community. Everyone knows each other, and when something happens, it affects all of us," Maytwayashing said in a statement released by RCMP.

"If it’s your child, your grandchild, niece, nephew — ask them to talk, because it’s affecting a lot of people. We don’t want this to happen to another family. People do know what happened."

RCMP are asking anyone with information to contact the Major Crime Services tip line at 431-489-8110.
